SCOPE

The BA LLB program offers a wide scope and opens up numerous career opportunities in the legal field and beyond. Graduates can pursue traditional legal careers such as becoming advocates, judges, or legal advisors in both private and public sectors. They can work in law firms, corporate legal departments, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), or offer independent legal consultancy services.
Beyond practicing law, BA LLB graduates can also enter civil services, where a legal background is highly valued, or work in legal academia as lecturers or researchers. The program's interdisciplinary nature also allows graduates to explore careers in areas like policy-making, journalism, and international relations. With further specialization, they can pursue careers in niche legal areas such as intellectual property law, environmental law, human rights law, and more. Programme Structure

The first semester lays the groundwork with Legal Methodology, introducing essential research and analytical skills. Constitutional Law I covers the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution. Law of Contracts I explore the basics of contractual agreements, and English Language and Communication enhances legal writing and speaking skills.

Building on the first semester, students study Constitutional Law II, focusing on advanced topics such as fundamental rights and directive principles. Law of Torts examines civil wrongs and remedies, while Family Law I covers personal laws related to marriage and family. Administrative Law introduces the principles governing administrative actions and decisions. Legal Writing and Research further develops skills in legal drafting.

In the third semester, Criminal Law-I covered the principles of criminal liability and the definitions of crimes. Property Law addresses the legal aspects of property rights and transactions. Family Law II continues with issues related to inheritance and adoption, while Intellectual Property Law provides an overview of protecting intellectual creations. Human Rights Law explores principles and international frameworks of human rights.

The fourth semester includes Criminal Law II, which focuses on advanced procedures and evidence in criminal Law. Civil Procedure Code I introduces the processes involved in civil litigation. Corporate Law covers business law and governance, and Environmental Law examines legal frameworks for environmental protection. Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility address professional conduct and ethics.

The fifth semester delves into Criminal Procedure Code II, covering advanced aspects of criminal justice. Labour Law explores employment regulations and labour rights. Law of Evidence focuses on the rules and principles of evidence in legal proceedings. Students engage in Moot Court Practice for practical courtroom experience and undertake an Internship to gain exposure to legal practice.

In the sixth semester, Jurisprudence explores legal theories and philosophical foundations of Law. Law of Insurance addresses insurance principles, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) covers methods for resolving disputes outside traditional court systems. Students also participate in a Legal Aid Clinic, providing legal assistance to underserved communities.

The seventh semester offers specialised electives such as Cyber Law, International Law, or Banking Law. Advanced Legal Research provides in-depth research skills, and Clinical Legal Education allows for practical legal training in real-world scenarios.

The eighth semester includes advanced electives and courses tailored to specific interests. Students continue their specialised studies with options such as Intellectual Property Rights, Environmental Policy, or Human Rights Advocacy. They also engage in Project Work or Internships to apply their knowledge in practical settings.

In the ninth semester, students undertake Dissertation Work, focusing on an independent research project in their area of interest. Research Seminars and Advanced Legal Writing support this to refine their research and presentation skills.

The final semester concludes with the completion and presentation of the Dissertation Work. Students also participate in Final Internships or Capstone Projects to consolidate their practical experience. The program wraps up with a comprehensive review and preparation for entering the legal profession.
